Plot
A family is invited to spend an entire weekend in a remote house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that there is a dark side lurking within the family that invited them. Blumhouse Productions has been a major force in the horror genre since Paranormal Activity became a global sensation in 2007. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, director of the original Danish film Speak No Evil (2022), who befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife.
In this remake, the nationalities of the two families have been changed to American and British
Although the Dutch are a bit socially awkward, the two couples got along very well, and after returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from the Dutch family to come to the Netherlands. He briefly thought about it, but decided that he would feel weird staying with people he didn’t really know; his story for the film was born when he indulged in his darkest fantasies about what might have happened if he had agreed (while maintaining that the original Dutch couple had never given off any bad vibes). In the bathroom, while washing his eye, he has a subconjunctival hemorrhage in his left eye; in his next scene, his eyes are perfectly clear.

James McAvoy is brilliant, alas the ending is not – watch the Danish version for that
You accept the invitation and go, not knowing exactly how this couple likes to eat, or even how they behave, and the trinkets they crave, if you did it might just provoke mockery. It’s fair to say that your encounter is unlike any other, it doesn’t end in the same way as the Danish brother (or sister), which is a shame because it was better, it was wild and unfettered, leaving the viewer with more than just drainpipes and a gutter. The final season of ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month.
